Cumbernauld Roadshow
Burnbrae Primary School
School Board/Staff Joint Venture

The first roadshow stop of the year was at St Maurice's High School, Cumbernauld. The focus for the roadshow was self-esteem, learning and achievement. Talks were given by Mike Baughan, Development Fellow of SCCC, Morag Johnson from Holytown Primary School and John MacDonald from Stonelaw Academy, South Lanarkshire, while senior pupils from St Maurice's chaired four workshops. This newsletter provided summaries of the speakers' main points.

Mrs Roberta Lundy, Headteacher of Burnbrae Primary School, Glasgow, received a commemorative certificate from the Minister of Education (Scotland), Mr Brian Wilson, MP. Braeburn Primary was the 500th member to join the Network.

In August, 1997, in an innovative venture, the Menzieshill High School Board and the teachers collaborated on two informal parent information evenings: one for the parents of pupils in S3 and one for the parents of pupils in S5 and S6. The purpose of the evenings was to exchange information and experiences of how best to ensure that the school's pupils did as well as they could in their examinations. This newsletter carried a report about this venture by the school rector, Mr Paul Taylor.
